In the area of sub-sea development, Sime Engineering has the capability to develop and complete subsystems for the development of satellite fields and/or for integrated use together with existing production units.
It was awarded Malaysia 's first sub-sea design work, the M4 and F23SW conceptual and detailed design contract, from Shell Sarawak Bhd in 2000 total's production capacity of 450MM scf/d.
Where marginal or small field development is concerned, Sime Engineering has the experience in handling the MASA (Malong, Sotong and Anding Field) development project in offshore Terengganu, Peninsular Malaysia and providing innovative ways to assist operators to develop these marginal fields. Malaysia still has large marginal oil and gas fields that have not been fully exploited. |

| In terms of offshore facilities, Sime Engineering can provide an integrated approach from conceptual and/or detailed engineering, procurement to construction. |
| |
|
 |
This has been proven in a number of critical applications as in the case of the project management consultancy for Petronas Carigali in the development of the Duyong gas field.
Sime Engineering's track record also includes the completion of a detailed engineering and design of topside facilities for Sarawak Shell's F6K-A offshore gas production complex in Central Luconia, Sarawak.
This integrated approach was put further test with the adoption of the EPC type of contracting strategy when Sime Engineering forged an alliance with its sister company, Sime Sembcorp Sdn. Bhd., in the Sarawak Shell's F6K-A project. Both companies come under the stable Sime Darby's Oil and Gas division. In anticipation of more such EPC contracts in the near future, the synergy offered by Sime Engineering and Sime Sembcorp Engineering will be a powerful combination in the bidding and execution of such works. |

Petrochemical /Refinery
Sime Engineering continues to be a main player in petrochemical with the award of the new liquefies natural gas (LNG) plant, Malaysia LNG Tiga Plant in Bintulu by 1999. Upon its completion in 2003, the complex will the largest in the world.
Sime Engineering was a consortium partner in the award of the MLNG Dua Plant in Bintulu, Sarawak . It was also one of the consortium members awarded the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) contract for the petrochemical plant under phase one of Petronas's second refinery project in Malacca.
Sime Engineering's involvement in the petrochemical or refinery can be traced back to the various phases of development in the upstream from the recovery of hydrocarbons in the oil and gas field right down to downstream, involving design and construction as well as the processing plant. |

Power Industry
The power industry, being a natural expansion for Sime Engineering into the energy sector, saw the company's involvement in the Port Dickson Plant, the first peaking plant to be fired in Malaysia , in 1993.
The company was also awarded the contract to erect three 700MW steam turbine generators and mechanical works for the new Tenaga National Bhd. Power Plant, in Janamanjung, Perak on November 2000. |

Infrastructure
Sime Engineering's success in the petrochemical and power industries led to its venture into the infrastructure sector and notable projects such as the design of the cargo complex at the KL International Airport .
Others include the 500kV substation development in Gurun, Bukit Batu and Junjung as well as the passenger loading bridges and apron services for KL International Airport Bhd.
To complement Sime Engineering's core strength, the company will continue to seek new opportunities in order to expand its markets and capabilities. |
